A journey to Finland – By Binh Minh.

Two years ago I arrived in Finland and it felt like a dream, not only because of the quality education I’m receiving in my school or the beautiful nature but also because of how easy it was.

While there are a lot of more common destinations for studying abroad. Even though I haven’t been to other countries, I can be sure that Finland is among one of the best, for it offers so much yet not too well-known. I didn’t believe it when I heard that Finland is called the country with the best education in the world even though they’re a small country, but they certainly didn’t bluff when I came and saw it for myself.

The town I lived and studied – Mänttä – is small, but the teaching quality is unmatched; the teachers were so professional, understanding, and supportive that they have indirectly inspired me to my path of becoming a teacher in Finland myself. Certainly, it requires an amount of time for us international students studying in another language and teachers to adapt, but I’m surprised at how they could deal with it so well even though I’m only in their second year. I even remember a teacher of mine having the patience to rewrite every test he gave us into easier Finnish texts and giving lectures in slow motion to make sure we weren’t falling behind. And, can you imagine? I got all of these benefits of studying at a Finnish high school all for free, yes you heard me right.

My little community here in Mänttä

I was never exceptional at learning a new language, studying different subjects in another language is on a whole other level. When I got my hands on the Finnish language for the first week, trust me it’s like solving a rubik cube blindfolded, but Finest Future has got me through this. It wasn’t easy, but Finest Future teachers made it easy. I have tried to study to take entrance exams for all kinds of countries, the USA, Australia, and Germany,.. you name it; but they were all difficult for me. The program I was having for studying abroad in Finland wasn’t easy either, but after a few weeks, I just knew that this was it. Finest Future teachers gave us different ways to strengthen our language knowledge through different fun activities so that we have enough skills to pass the B.1 language test, which was a requirement to study abroad in Finland. After the test, you will apply to a school you like based on their descriptions, for example, my school has a special line for students who are interested in medicines, so we had trips for students to go to a trip to forest station and a science university, the experience has been incredible.

Finland has opened so many new opportunities for me 🙂

This 9th of October, Finest Future is hosting an event where you can find all of the details about Finland’s education and opportunities. What I wrote here is only a little peek at the actual magic you’ll be able to know after attending the event. Besides applying to high school like I do, you can also consider studying at Finnish vocational schools. During the event, you can also join a trial language class for free to see if this is for you. A few students who participated in the Finest Future program, and who have just graduated from high school this summer are also going to be present in the webinar to answer any questions you have. Finest Future education employees will give free consultations to any participants, so sign up for the webinar at this link: ves.finestfuture.org
